Deep Tissue Massage – Used to effectively treat tender points that are found in muscles, fascia, tendons and ligaments. This method involves increasing pressure by the therapist to work deeper in the tissue.

Lymph Drainage Technique – Very light technique used to stimulate the movement of lymph fluid throughout the body. The lymph system is important for proper function of the immune system and removing toxins from the body.

Maya Abdominal Massage – The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Massage for the reproductive and digestive systems is an external, non-invasive manipulation to guide reproductive organs into their proper position and improve the blood flow to the digestive organs.

Orthobionomy Technique – Non-invasive technique involving a positional release of soft tissue. By holding or positioning the bony structure, it brings the origin and insertion (the two ends of the muscle) together. This position is held while the muscle relaxes, therefore releasing the muscle tension and reducing pain.

Pregnancy/Postpartum Massage – Very beneficial for “mother to be”. Benefits include relaxation, decreasing strain on hips, back, legs and ankles, decreasing blood pressure, improving sleep patterns, and improving blood flow to the uterus and baby. Postpartum massage is designed to promote realignment of pelvic and abdominal structures and relieve muscle strains after delivery.

Swedish Massage – The most common type of massage. It is known for its slow and flowing movements. This method relaxes and eases aches and pains.

Trigger Point Technique – Used to relieve joint and muscle pain. Tight or tender points are found within the muscle tissue then point specific pressure is held for 30 – 60 seconds until the muscle relaxes.

Finding a Qualified Massage Therapist

Massage therapy should be provided by a professional who has received proper training. Don’t hesitate to ask the therapist about their background, training, and experience. Referrals from friends and family can usually be relied upon. If you are seeking a specialized massage, such as Pregnancy Massage or Orthobionomy, you should request a therapist with specialized training in that unique type of therapy.
